![]() Banelar nagas were known to worship either Bane or Cyric. įollowing the World Serpent's fragmentation and the fall of Mhairshaulk most nagas worshiped Shekinester, a lesser goddess that fragmented from him, and her son Parrafaire. Some theologians speculated that their curiosity and questioning over his many facets was what led to him fragmenting. Prior to his fragmentation, all nagas worshiped the World Serpent. Society īecause of the flexibility their species had in regards to reproduction, the concept of mates held far less importance among nagas compared to other creatures. Ī similar-looking creature created by spirit nagas as servitors was the nagatha. There was a particular undead form of naga called bone nagas, normally created as guardians. Īfter the fall of Mhairshaulk and Shekinester's split into five guises, five major subspecies of nagas arose, as well as at least four minor subspecies. Over time, the nagas helped the sarrukh to establish the foundations of magic in the kingdoms of Mhairshaulk, Isstosseffifi, Okoth. The first nagas to be created were water nagas, who were bred for the purpose of exploring the vast lands and oceans of Abeir-Toril. In their capacity as servitors they served the sarrukh as guards, researchers of magic, and explorers of uncharted lands. They were created by magically interbreeding powerful serpents with the natural intelligence and inquisitiveness of humans. Nagas were created by the sarrukh in the early days of Mhairshaulk as a servitor race. Much like most snake and reptile species, nagas were known to dislike cold climates. No method was preferred over the other and the choice of method came down to convenience or personal preference. A naga could reproduce by copulating with another member of their subrace or simply by impregnating itself. Though nagas and their deities were perceived as having distinct sexes, they were an entirely hermaphrodite species. ![]() Nagas were known to have a natural affinity for spellcasting, being born with an inherent understanding of the art of magic. Though some were known to be over a 100 feet (30 meters) in length. They typically ranged from 10 to 20 feet (3 to 6.1 meters) in length and weighed around 200‒500 lb (91‒230 kg). Dire animals are not generally suitable as mounts, though the GM may make exceptions at her discretion.Nagas resembled giant snakes with heads that bore a humanoid resemblance. At the GM’s discretion, PCs who acquire dire animals may be required to attempt wild empathy or Handle Animal checks every day to keep their pets from running away or attacking them and their allies. These feral beasts are all but untamable, and are typically only sought out by violent brawlers or cruel lords, either for brutish protection or to pit against equally vicious creatures in violent animal fights. Most aquatic animals can be trained as normal, though they are rarely sold already trained. Some of the larger or rarer creatures, such as whales, are obviously much more difficult to find on the open market, and may only be available in seedy underground bazaars. Pirates often make use of sharks, eels, and other nasty sea denizens when interrogating captured prisoners, searching for underwater traps, or retrieving sunken treasure. Many of the following aquatic animals can be bought at seaside markets or from fisherfolk merchants out at sea. Though not normally readily available, combat-trained dinosaurs and megafauna typically cost an amount equal to 1-1/2 × the price of the standard animal. Combat-trained dinosaurs and megafauna are incredibly rare and have similarly extravagant costs (if one can even find a seller). The prices listed are for dinosaurs and megafauna that have been reared from birth in order to serve as pets or mounts. The following animals are classified as either dinosaurs or megafauna, and garner a significantly higher price than most animals on the open market. The animals are listed here for convenience when referencing the Ride skill, but are also listed on the Goods & Services Animals and Gear page. In addition, most of these animals can be purchased already trained for combat.
